| Pharmacology: |
| Branched chain amino acids help stimulate muscle protein synthesis, so they are valuable for body-building as a sport, and also for preventing muscle wasting and helping with healing after surgery or trauma. Their decomposition products can be used by the body to create branched fatty acids, which can become part of complex phospholipids. Isoleucine can be converted to sugar in the liver, so it can help maintain blood glucose levels. Also it is used to build hemoglobin, which carries iron in the blood. |

| 200 to 2000 mg per day, with plenty of liquid, on an empty stomach at least an hour before meals, or at bedtime. This is because other protein in a meal will block absorption of this amino acid. |
Avoid if subject to "maple syrup urine disease." Otherwise safe for human and animal use. For best results, do not take with protein meal. |
